Is Somebody There?? Part 2

We constantly wondered if in fact there was a paranormal presence in the apartment, but for the most part we did it in passing. The girls did not want to talk much about it. After all, denial works great. Time passed and things were fine, nothing major had happened. The laughs and voices coming from the second room became usual for us even when the girls who slept in that room were still somewhat afraid.

One night after having a few glasses of wine, because we're classy...and because two of the girls can't handle hard liquor, someone pulled a deck of cards and said "lets play spirit in the room!". I looked at them and thought "why not?". Apparently they had played it before and the answers always turned out to not go with the question which made it silly and fun to them. So we started to play the game and they were right, it was silly and fun.

Now, take into consideration that with a deck of cards the questions can only be answered with: yes, no, maybe and ask again. That's exactly what makes it funny. So, in the middle of playing someone says "why don't you ask the spirit if it's here for Zia?" So, Eda goes ahead and asks that and then pulls a card...the answer was yes. To keep on with it she asked if it was a male and we got another positive answer. Her third question was "are you nice?" and the answer was no, so she asked "do you like us?" again a no. Things were getting serious so she asked "do you wanna hurt somebody here?" and the answer was yes.

That terrified the girls, but what are the chances it could have been just a coincidence. So we decided to ask basic questions, like am I wearing blue?, is Tay eating chocolate?...really easy and basic things like that. All the answers matched the questions. At that point, the girls didn't want to play anymore. And to this day if I ask them to play they won't agree or they'll pretend I never said it.

A few days after that, I was in the living room working on a paper and Tay comes in goes to her room and then steps out to the balcony to talk on the phone. When she walked out the left the door open and just stood there. I could hear her talking and at some point her voice wasn't as clear as before. But whatever, I thought she just didn't want to be too loud. After about 10 minutes I hear a loud banging on the door, it was Tay she was knocking on the balcony's door. I got up and went over only to realize the door had been closed and locked.

When I opened the door Tay's first words were "why did you closed and locked the door?" and I immediately told her "it wasn't me, I never moved from my spot and nobody else came here". She went to her room and didn't came out until later when all the girls were home, and then she told everyone what had happened. The girls were scared and somewhat concerned. Because it wasn't windy that day and we couldn't blame the wind for closing the door and locking it without one sound.

The incident just did not made any logical sense. And the girls were now more scared than ever so they told me to get rid of it, to make it go away or at least to make it stop. After that day, I sat in my room sitting on my bed alone and I decided to talk to whatever was there. So I said like I was talking to someone I could actually see, "please stop, stop scaring them, do not mess with them please". After that, the girls never said they heard anything anymore. And everything was peaceful and back to normal or so they thought....

Is Somebody There?? Part 1

I haven't posted anything in months...I apologize, I was taking a few summer classes and those require a bit more studying and focus than classes during the regular academic year. Anyway, in light of that I will talk about the events that took place in the apartment I lived during the regular academic year...

I moved into the apartment on September 22, 2013. It was a beautiful Sunday and the weather was perfect, the weather is great 95% of the time over there. The apartment complex is owned by the university, there's an endless list of rules and regulations that we must abide by and with that in mind I thought it would be a great place to live and not be so distracted by parties and things...but oh boy, was I wrong.

I shared the apartment with 4 other people, one of which was my roommate and I knew her because we moved from the same town. Knowing at least one person gives a bit of comfort given that I was terrified about the kind of people I would live with thanks to the random, self-assign process the university uses. I met my other 3 housemates and they were great. One of the first chats we had was about the unknown and paranormal events. I warned them about the events my presence could bring and the response was broad, from believing me to thinking I was lying or it was all in my head.

The days went by and everything was normal, nothing seemed to be out of place. But such peace did not lasted long. About 2 weeks after moving in I started to hear voices and laughs coming from the second room. At first I thought one of the girls was there and did not paid much attention to it. The same thing happened for about a week before I realized no one was in the room. I told the girls the noises I heard coming from that room and the first logical explanation was "it's the neighbors".

I left it like that since I didn't want to scare them but I knew that the noises I heard were not caused by the neighbors (their noises and sounds had a more distant tone). The noises continued and one day one of the girls who slept in that room was in the kitchen with me when we heard laughs coming from the room. Her first reaction was "oh, Tay* is there?" and she immediately went to check only to find an empty room. But how could that be possible if the laugh was so clear and it was so obvious that it came from the room?

After that we gathered again to discuss the possibility that what was going on was something out of the norm. This time around no more "that is BS" comments were uttered and everyone resolved to keep an open mind and be respectful about the unknown. Things were quiet for a while, until one day while I was sitting on my bed hating the world (it was Monday morning) and while I sat there one of my nightstand drawers opened by itself. Yes, by itself! It was just as if someone had pull it open. I closed it and got out of the room.

A few days later I woke up at 6am (and I was the first one up) and went straight to the kitchen to find the stove on. I stood there, perplexed at how that had happened. Why was it on if no one was up and I was the last one to go to bed the night before? I always double check and is a fact that the stove was not on when I went to bed at 1am. A few minutes later Eda* walks into the kitchen and I immediately point out the stove being on. She just looks at me confused and we both knew that we were thinking the same thing. She hurried over and turned it off and we moved on to our daily routines.

Later that day Eda and me gathered the girls to comment on what happened with the stove and all we got were frightened faces. At that point Brea*, my roommate, looks at me and says "your drawer opened by itself the other day, it was just as if someone pulled it open". I just smiled and said I had seen that happen before. After that the girls looked at me and said "whatever you brought with you please make it go away". We were convinced there was an extra resident at out apartment. And we continuously asked ourselves and each other "is somebody really there"?
